Hello! Welcome to my website, my name is Ashley.
I am a Queer Malaysian Movement Artist and Community Dance Facilitator based in Britain. The values of my practice as an artist are PLAY, OWNERSHIP & CELEBRATE which have been created based on how my identities intersect and they are the principles of how I work, which are explained in the
about page

Through movement, I investigate the struggles of everyday life under the constant pressure of production while reimagining alternative ways of being and interacting with people/nature. Through this, I experience and explore the joy and liberation that come through community and sharing experiences of frustration, anger and agency.

My practice involves multidisciplinary collaboration, contact improvisation, and mixing styles such as popping, hip-hop and contemporary which focuses on groove, tension, release, and explosion.

In addition, I facilitate movement/dance classes for everyone and anyone. If you're young, old, differently abled, experienced or unexperienced in movement, my classes aim to focus on community building, joy, and creative exploration using movement to form connections with others in a caring space. More about my facilitation practice here.
